An AQL500 Ice Pigging machine was recently installed at a major soft drinks manufacturer in Japan to service a product line containing fruit juice concentrate.
The results showed that despite multi-diameter lines, pipe bends, valves, sensors and a centrifugal pump, the ice slurry was still able to easily navigate its way through the factory’s lines to clean and recover product.
Ice Pigging with the AQL500 proved to be a very quick and efficient cleaning method that on average, only took 5 minutes for the whole procedure, significantly reducing downtime.
Product from the lines was successfully and efficiently recovered and showed major improvements over existing air purge and water push methods that the plant normally use.
Ice Pigging with the AQL500 showed extremely positive results with major benefits for this factory's specific application. When compared to traditional product recovery techniques, Ice Pigging was able to recover 50% more product compared to traditional methods the plant had previously used, such as air purge and water push. On average, cleaning cycles only took five minutes, greatly reducing downtime for the plant.
Much of the analysis conducted during in-house testing shows significant savings for manufacturers, similar to those above and with payback of up to just three years.
