SUEZ have won Best Manufacturing/Processing Technology at the World Food Innovation Awards 2016 in London this week for their breakthrough Ice Pigging machine for the food sector, the AQL500. The annual awards bring together the world’s most innovative food products from suppliers large and small.
Ice Pigging is a process for clearing lines that uses slush ice to remove product from pipes. The process is fast and can be applied to pipework containing bends, changes in diameter and obstructions without issue. When Ice Pigging is applied in large scale food processing it can bring major improvements in efficiency, largely from a step-change in product recovery, with a consequent reduction in effluent production and water used. The AQL500 is a ‘factory ready’ fully automated Ice Pigging machine designed to conform to the strict hygiene standards expected in food processing factories.
Speaking at the awards ceremony was Suez’s Head of Ice Pigging, Matthew Stephenson “We’re delighted to win this award. We think it validates the view that Ice Pigging is a game changer for major food producers. The technology is a true innovation, and we are really looking forward to working with food producers to help improve their efficiency.”
As an industrial services and solutions company specialising in securing and recovering resources, SUEZ provides its customers (local authorities, industry and consumers) with concrete solutions to address new resource management challenges.
